Jesus is so kind.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about how kind He is, is the song Reckless Love. Here are a few lyrics that really hit home on kindness:

Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in meYou have been so, so kind to me.
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for meYou have been so, so kind to me.

The thing about His kindness, is that he will be there for us, and pick us up before we even ask or know we need it. He filled us up with life before we even took a breath, and he restores us when we feel like we can’t be restored.

I want to take a minute to break down the actual word and concept of kindness. The definition of kind is this: having or showing a friendly, generous, loving, and considerate nature.

Now that we have established what exactly kindness looks like, lets look at a few verses in the bible that shed some light on it.

Ephesians 2:7 |  "In order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus."

Colossians 2:12-13 | "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

We ARE God’s chosen people.

That is such an honor and something that we all need to believe about ourselves. You are one of God’s children and you are chosen. Because of this truth we must clothe ourselves in kindness and show others that kindness the same way that Jesus has shows it to us.

I challenge you to think of ways that you can be kind to those around you this week.

How can you love the people around you well and be generous in nature? Can you visit a neighbor, bake a friend some cookies, or clean the dishes when it is your roommates turn? There are so many opportunities for us to be kind each day, we just have to see them!

Jesus, thank you so much for how kind you are. Thank you for breathing life into me and for choosing me. Father I want to look more like you, and I know that there are more things I could do to be kind to those around me. This week will you reveal those opportunities to me and shine light on how I can be kind to the people in my life.
